Sunrise Energy Group assisted Western Power in the development of a feasibility study for a Microgrid solution for Kalbarri.

During the development of the feasibility study, Sunrise Energy Group identified some suitable land and had in principle off take arrangements in place.

Sunrise Energy Group have applied to connect a 5MW solar farm in Kalbarri. Due to the current unconstrained access regime, this solar farm is queued behind another connection application in Kalbarri, the 4MW concentrated solar thermal plant.

This project is currently on hold, waiting for greater certainty around securing a connection in Kalbarri. This is expected to be resolved in 2022 when the current access regime is amended to constrained access.

Sunrise Energy Group has entered into a binding Heads of Agreement with Image Resources for 3-4MW solar Farm in Boonanarring.

Sunrise Energy Group will build, own and operate a 3-4 MW single axis tracking solar farm located next to Image Resources Mineral Sands mine, on land leased from Image Resource in Boonanarring.

The solar farm will be configured as a “behind the meter” solution and is expected to provide approximately 25 % of the required electricity for the mine on an annual basis.

The project is currently progressing through its approvals cycle, with the main approvals being from the Shire of Gingin and Western Power. It is expected these will be complete in the next 6 to 8 months, with construction expected to commence in early 2019.

Sunrise Energy Group is part of a consortium that successfully responded to a recent EoI relating to the development of a microgrid to supply electricity to a new greenfield industrial estate in the Peel region. As part of this submission, Sunrise Energy Group was responsible for ideas and alternative proposals concerning the conceptual design, technical details, staging and commercial development of the indicative microgrid scheme, including the development and integration of a behind the meter solar farm. Subsequent to the EoI, the consortium has now been invited to participate in an RFP expected to be released in May 2018.

Sunrise Energy Group and Yarradale Stud have entered in to an agreement to deploy a demonstration redeployable solar unit at Yarradale Stud in Gigdegannup.

The system is from 5B Solar Pty Ltd and is a 33KW system. The system is grid connected, providing power to the Stud ahead of the network, with any surplus power supplied to the grid.

The unit is redeployable, folding back up with just the use of a forklift. This unit has already been deployed at a number of conferences in WA before finding a more permanent home at Yarradale Stud.
